Expect a record number of patches for Windows

Next week we’ll have the occasion to recall those times, because Microsoft will provide no less than 14 patches.

The 14 patches that we will install next week, probably on Wednesday morning, will set a new record for Microsoft. Most patches released within a period of a month. They will repair 34 potential security problems.

They haven’t targeted only the operating systems themselves, but many Microsoft applications. These include various versions of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Works and Silverlight. Furthermore Server versions and of course, Windows 7, Vista and XP.

Users of Windows XP with SP2 have been left outside. Although security issues are concerning them too, the updates can be installed only on Windows XP with SP3. If they don’t want to become a security risk for themselves and other users, they have to install the latest service pack for Windows XP.
